An apparatus for selectively emitting light is provided. The apparatus has at least one light-emitting diode (LED) for emitting light. and a sensor that responds to the presence of a signal, such as infra-red light. The apparatus has a controller that controls the activation of the at least one LED based upon the sensor response.
