A semiconductor laser optical output control circuit able to precisely control an optical output of a semiconductor laser, provided with a peak value detection circuit106-1and a bottom value detection circuit107-1for detecting the output of a photo-diode PD102, optical power setting voltage sources105-1and105-2for giving the setting value of the optical output of a semiconductor laser LD101, a peak value detection circuit106-2and a bottom value detection circuit107-2for detecting the output of a switching circuit104for switching the setting value, error amplifiers108-1and108-2for comparing the detected outputs of the peak value detection circuit106-1and peak value detection circuit106-2and the bottom value detection circuit107-1and bottom value detection circuit107-2, and a switching circuit110for switching the comparison results of the error amplifiers108-1and108-2and supplying the same to a current amplifier111in synchronization with the switching circuit104.
