ABSTRACT:
A semi-pipelined analog-to-digital converter for the conversion of a continuous analog input signal to a series of digital output codes is disclosed. A semi-pipelined analog-to-digital converter has a coarse resolution analog-to-digital converter for the conversion of the analog input signal to a coarse digital code, and a fine analog-to-digital converter for the conversion of the analog input signal to a fine digital code. The digital output code of the semi-pipelined analog-to-digital converter is created by the encoding of the coarse and fine digital codes in an output encoder.
