A method and apparatus for the direct treatment of viscera. The apparatus comprises an outer container, an inner container and a locking lid. The viscera are placed in the inner container, which is an open, perforated basket. The appropriate chemicals are poured over the viscera and the lid is locked into place. After treatment, the viscera are drained and stored until replaced into the human remains.
