ABSTRACT:
A selective calling receiver includes a receiver section for demodulating carrier waves which are modulated by a calling signal. A decoder is connected to the output of the receiver section for selectively receiving the demodulated calling signal and for controlling the receiving operations. The power is intermittently applied to the receiver section under control of the decoder. A clock terminal in the decoder section receives a continuous supply of clock pulses during the period while the selective receiving operation is being conducted. During the period while the selective receiving operation is not conducted, the clock pulses are supplied to the clock terminal in the form of bursts or at a lower than clock rate.
