ABSTRACT:
A seed pickup mechanism for a vacuum wheel type seed planter including provision for arranging the seeds into a relatively thin stable seedbed which is suitably carried through a seed pickup chamber at a spaced distance below the vacuum wheel. The stable seedbed is converted into an unstable or fluidal state as it passes through the seed pickup chamber by an upwardly directed blast of air which is effective to expand the seedbed or slightly lift and separate the seeds thus the seeds are raised upwardly to facilitate engagement thereof with the vacuum wheel.
