ABSTRACT:
The present invention pertains to a screwdriver blade. The screwdriver blade comprises a shank having a central axis and a tip portion which extends from the shank. The tip portion has a pair of opposing concave driving faces and a concave terminal end surface. The concave driving faces are torsidal having a first radius R.sub.1 disposed in a plane which is parallel to the central axis. The first radius R.sub.1 has a center disposed at a distance x from a side edge of the concave terminal end surface. The concave driving faces have a second radius R.sub.2 disposed in a plane perpendicular to the central axis. The terminal end surface is cylindrical and has a third radius R.sub.3 which is disposed in a plane perpendicular to the plane through first radius R.sub.1. The tip portion has a width b and a maximum thickness c and preferably, 0.2b.ltoreq. x.ltoreq. 0.5b, 0.2b.ltoreq. R.sub.1 .ltoreq.b, R.sub.2 =Kb.sup.2 /c where K is a constant and 0.5R.sub. 2 .ltoreq.R.sub.3 .ltoreq.2R.sub. 2 and the angle .alpha. between a line tangent to R.sub.1 at the maximum thickness c and the central axis is between 15.degree. and 45.degree.. In one embodiment, x= 0.5b, R.sub.1 =b, R.sub.2 =0.32b.sup. 2 /c and R.sub.3 =R.sub.2 and .alpha.= 30.degree..
