ABSTRACT:
In a scanning optical device which deflects a light flux from a light source with a deflection scanning unit to perform light scanning to a body to be scanned through at least one optical member, the scanning optical device is characterized by including a holding member29, a position adjusting unit, and an abutting unit. The holding member29which is swingable holds a diffraction optical element23which is of at least one of the optical member. The position adjusting unit swings the holding member29to adjust an attitude of the diffraction optical element23held by the holding member29. The abutting unit has a viscoelastic member33awhich abuts on the holding member29.
