ABSTRACT:
After a second plate member3is inserted into a space which is surrounded by side walls6athrough6dof a first plate member2, the bonded surface3aof the second plate member3is bonded and fixed to the bonded surface2aof the first plate member2by an adhesive to form a sample handling unit1. At this time, the second plate member3is positioned by protrusions35and36of the first plate member2in X and Y directions, and positioned and fixed by holding members8through13and inside holding members26and27in Z directions (normal directions on an external surface7). A microfluidic device101includes microchips106through108of plural kinds having passages132through134for transporting a sample, and a base member102on which the microchips106through108are arranged. After the base member102and the microchips106through108are separately formed, microchips106through108of kinds necessary for intended purpose, such as analysis of the sample, are selected to be suitably combined to be positioned and fixed on the base member102to form the microfluidic device101. By causing the positioning holes127of the microchips106through108to engage the positioning protrusions128of the base member102, the microchips106through108are positioned with respect to the base member102.
