ABSTRACT:
A rotary head cleaning apparatus and method is disclosed, in which a control unit operates a cleaning mechanism based on time information from a clock that measures time-of-day. The rotary head cleaning apparatus can clean the head even during a lengthy recording or reproducing operation based on input from an operator as to either frequency of cleaning or actual times of cleaning.
