ABSTRACT:
A pair of upper and lower work rolls are supported by metal chocks provided with roll bending devices, and backup rolls are supported by metal chocks which may be movable in the axial direction. The backup rolls may be displaced in the axial direction so as to vary the length of line of contact between the work rolls and the backup rolls to control the distribution of rolling pressure transmitted from the backup rolls to the work rolls, whereby the sectional dimension may be controlled jointly using the bending forces of the work rolls.
