ABSTRACT:
A cam track is used for accurately timing and conveying a stream of alternating filter portions in the production of composite filter rod. Groups of filter portions are supplied to the cam track, which forms a continuous stream by reducing the feed velocity and delivers the stream into the garniture of a rod-making machine. The cam track mechanism and the continuous rod cut-off are synchronised so that the rod is cut at predetermined positions, e.g. through the middle of alternate filter portions.
