ABSTRACT:
A restriction endonuclease is provided. The enzyme, designated SgfI, recognizes the DNA sequence ##STR1## and cleaves the DNA sequence at a position indicated by the arrows and is preferably obtainable from microorganisms of the genus Streptomyces.
