ABSTRACT:
Renin inhibiting compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is a moiety selected from those of the formula: ##STR2## where Z is O, S, SO, or SO.sub.2, P is 1 or 2 and X is --O-- or --S--; and analogs thereof which inhibit the substrate-cleaving acting of renin, pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds, processes for producing the compounds and methods of treating hypertension which employ the novel renin inhibitors.
