ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of hemorrhoids and to a composition therefor which comprises the product resulting from heating to a temperature of the order of 100.degree. - 240.degree.F, for a period of time of the order of 2 - 15 minutes, a mixture of the powdered or chipped limbs or roots of the shrub Celastrus scandens, commonly known as bittersweet, and an animal or vegetable fat. The preferred form of the composition is then strained to remove solid particles and mixed with a topical anesthetic, such as celery seed extract, and benzoin to retard the rancidity of the fat.
