ABSTRACT:
A reinforcing structure for a rubber article includes a first annular ply disposed in the article. The first ply has a cord construction and includes a plurality of parallel cords which are disposed at an angle with respect to the midcircumferential centerplane of the article. A second annular ply is disposed in the article and is spaced radially outwardly from the first ply. The second ply also has a cord construction and includes a plurality of parallel cords which are disposed at an angle with respect to the midcircumferential centerplane of the article in a direction opposite to the direction of the cords of the first ply. A third annular ply is disposed in the article and is positioned between the first and second plies and is bonded thereto. The third ply has a cord construction and includes a plurality of parallel cords which form a 0.degree. angle with respect to the midcircumferential centerplane of the article. The cords of the third ply have a diameter no greater than the cords of the first and second plies.
