Glass fibers of superior physical properties are produced by drawing at a temperature between about 1250.degree. and 1350.degree. C a melt consisting essentially ZnO-MgO-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 -SiO.sub.2 -TiO.sub.2 of the following approximate composition by weight:
