ABSTRACT:
Regeneration of a phosphorus poisoned automotive exhaust catalyst is accomplished in a preferred embodiment by washing the catalyst or soaking it to the point of incipient wetness with an aqueous solution of an acid such as HCl, HNO.sub.3 or oxalic acid and subsequent heating of the wetted catalyst in air or other oxygen-containing gas.
