ABSTRACT:
A refrigeration system employing oil lubricated compressors has an improved arrangement for removing oil contaminations from the hot gas contaminated with oil from the compressor. This is done by desuperheating the hot refrigerant gas with indirect contact cooling by flashing liquid at the condenser pressure, heating or evaporating water and heating air, and is applicable to all evaporative refrigerants: miscible and immiscible with lubricating oil.
In addition, improved features for better contact of liquid and hot gas in present equipment by reducing density, improved inlet connection for receivers now in operation to minimize agitation, improved rapid defrosting by condensing clean gas with clean condensate remaining in the evaporator for chilling as the pressure is reduced, new non-entrainment trap for collecting non-condensible gases, and new application with siphonic tee utilizing high velocity gas from the compressor for drawing in gas at equalized pressure to be returned to the condenser.
