ABSTRACT:
A refrigeration oil processing sequence is disclosed which produces a superior oil without the use of sulfuric acid treating and the resultant sludge problems. The process comprises contacting a naphthenic based oil with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a permanganate under mild oxidation conditions of temperature and pressure followed by adsorbent fractionation.
