A refrigerating machine equipped with a compressor2having an intermediate-pressure portion2M in which refrigerant having intermediate pressure higher than the pressure of the refrigerant at the suction side thereof and lower than the pressure of the refrigerant at the discharge side thereof can be introduced, and an intermediate-pressure receiver28that is inserted in a flow path between an expansion valve27a(27b) of a heat source side heat exchanger3a(3b) and an expansion valve18a(18b) of a using side heat exchanger6a(6b), carries out gas-liquid separation on gas-liquid mixed refrigerant after the heat exchange in the heat source side heat exchanger or the using side heat exchanger, and then feeds gas-phase refrigerant to the intermediate-pressure portion2M.
