ABSTRACT:
A refrigerated, thin-walled shipping container (8) including a horizontal dividing element (20) forming a compartment (22) for holding CO.sup.2 snow created by passing liquid CO.sup.2 through manifold (24) along at least one side of the compartment and spraying the CO.sup.2 snow against the opposite wall. The charging of the cooling compartment generates gas pressure, and the combination design of the charging manifold and pressure release vents allows the operation to be performed without excessive structural damaging pressure buildup.
