ABSTRACT:
The present invention is concerned with a composition for metallurgical furnaces.
The composition comprises one or more refractory materials and an aromatic substance in which the atomic ratio of carbon to hydrogen is approximately 0.8 or higher. That substance serves as a binder for the refractory material. The composition of the invention is characterized in that the aromatic substance presents an average molecular weight of approximately 1500 or higher and an initial boiling point of approximately 300.degree. C or higher at 760 mm Hg.
