ABSTRACT:
A method for computing a reflector shape for an optically pumped slab laser in order to produce a desired focal power lens effect distribution across the width thereof is disclosed. A desired pumping profile corresponding to the desired lens effect distribution is determined. An error function is defined in terms of the deviation of a computed pumping profile from the desired pumping profile. Dimensional parameters descriptive of the reflector shape are then varied to minimize the error function.
