In a recording material guiding device, a second guide member606is comprised of a hopper swinging surface23c,an edge guide member25including a second side end guide member25a,and a liftup preventing guide251.The hopper swinging surface23cis engaged in an opening provided in a side surface of a reference end guide24serving as a first guide member603.The second guide member606can be slid in a main scanning direction with respect to the reference end guide24(first guide member603). During recording a gap d1can be formed between the second side end guide member25aand a side end Pa of the recording paper P by sliding the second side end guide member25afrom a first position604to a second position605,so that frictional contact can be prevented at the side end Pa of the recording paper P on the second side end guide member side.
