ABSTRACT:
A recording liquid for ink jet recording, which comprises an aqueous medium, a pigment and, as a dispersant, at least one member selected from the group consisting of compounds of the following formula (I) to (X): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.8-20 alkyl group, m is an integer of from 1 to 3, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is a C.sub.8-20 alkyl group, n is an integer of from 1 to 3, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR3## wherein each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is a C.sub.6-16 alkyl or alkenyl group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR4## wherein R.sup.5 is a C.sub.10-20 alkyl or alkenyl group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR5## wherein R.sup.6 is a C.sub.6-16 alkyl or alkenyl group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR6## wherein R.sup.7 is a C.sub.10-20 alkyl or alkenyl group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR7## wherein R.sup.8 is a C.sub.10-20 alkyl or alkenyl group, R.sup.9 is a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group and R.sup.10 is a C.sub.1-3 alkylene group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR8## wherein R.sup.11 is a C.sub.6-18 alkyl group, p is an integer of from 1 to 15, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, ##STR9## wherein R.sup.12 is a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, q is an integer of 1 or 2, r is an integer of from 1 to 8, and M is Na or NH.sub.4, and ##STR10## wherein t is an integer of from 1 to 10, R.sup.13 is a C.sub.10-20 alkyl or alkenyl group, and M is Na or NH.sub.4.
