ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a video recording device which comprises a tuner2for receiving a television broadcast signal, an XDS signal extraction circuit4for extracting an XDS signal from the received television broadcast signal, a VCR mechanism6for recording image signals on a magnetic tape, and a control circuit5. The control circuit5calculates broadcast remaining time remained until broadcast of a program being recorded is terminated based on broadcasting time information and broadcasting time lapse information contained in the XDS signal after recording operation is started at a standard speed, calculates recordable time wherein the recording is performed on the magnetic tape at a 3×-speed, changes over recording speed to 3×-speed when the broadcast remaining time is in match with the recordable time to continue the recording operation.
