ABSTRACT:
A reciprocating engine1includes an annular top ring5serving as a first piston ring disposed adjacent to a top surface (head end surface)4of a piston3defining a combustion chamber2; an annular second ring6serving as a second piston ring disposed with the top ring5interposed between the annular second ring6and the top surface4; an annular gas chamber7defined by the top ring5and the second ring6; and a plurality of communicating passages8for allowing the annular gas chamber7and the combustion chamber2to communicate with each other. The top ring5and the second ring6are respectively inclined with respect to an X direction in which the piston3reciprocates, so as to be located further away from each other on a thrust side9than on an anti-thrust side10.
