ABSTRACT:
A piston2includes a piston upper body8made up of a crown portion3for receiving combustion pressure and a land portion7having piston ring grooves4, 5, and6, as well as a skirt portion9formed on the lower side of the piston upper body8, and a pin boss portion11for supporting a piston pin10. The land portion7also includes an outer peripheral surface16of the aforementioned piston upper body8. The land portion7is referred to as the outer peripheral surface16of the piston upper body8. In the piston2, reference numeral12denotes a thrust side, and reference numeral13denotes an anti-thrust side. The piston2is formed such that the piston upper body8is off-centered toward the anti-thrust side13with respect to a center line14of the piston2.
