ABSTRACT:
A real time 3D medical ultrasound imaging machine is disclosed. Large extended transmitters are used with a great range of different pulse types, giving improved signal to noise ratio. Image reconstruction is done by filtered ellipsoidal backprojection. The filter is an inverse triplet filter. Sparse arrays may be used. The imaging machine additionally promises higher resolution, greater sensitivity 2D real time images displayed simultaneously with the real time 3D image.
