ABSTRACT:
Reactions of chlorosilanes and methoxysilanes with chlorosiloxanes, methoxysiloxanes and siloxanes are carried out in the presence of hydrochloric acid and methanol, without the addition of any catalyst, to provide methoxy-functional polysiloxane intermediate fluids. Improved yields are provided by utilizing the hydrolyzate forms of Me.sub.2 SiCl.sub.2 and MeHSiCl.sub.2, respectively, in order to obtain Me.sub.2 SiO and MeHSiO siloxane units.
