ABSTRACT:
Surface active agents are made by heating at 210.degree. to 260.degree. C. a mixture of a protein with an organic carboxylic acid at a ratio of one to ten equivalent weights of protein to one of acid. The mixture is preferably heated in an atmosphere of oxygen-free gas inert to the mixture. An inert solvent may be present.
