ABSTRACT:
A metal article is consolidated from a rapidly solidified magnesium based alloy. After consolidation, the alloy has a microstructure containing precipitates of intermetallic phase of average size less than 0.1 .mu.m. The article has a thickness of at least 1 mm measured in the shortest dimension, and exhibits a superior combination of strength, ductility and corrosion resistance.
