ABSTRACT:
Polyurethane foams having modified properties, such as increased tensile strength, tear strength and improved compression-deflection characteristics are prepared by incorporating in a foam-forming composition, an effective amount of a cross-link promoter, selected from the group consisting of polyfunctional, polyunsaturated acrylates; polyfunctional, polyunsaturated methacrylates; triallyl cyanurate; methyl methacrylate; 1,5-cyclooctadiene and bis (.beta.-chloroethyl) vinyl phosphonate. After a foam is prepared from the composition, it is exposed to a radiation dosage sufficient to modify the properties of said foam.
