ABSTRACT:
There are provided quaternary ammonium compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 lower alkyl or alkenyl group, or C.sub.3 to C.sub.8 lower cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkyl or aryl group; or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 combine with each other in combination with the adjacent N and carbon atoms or further with at least one of nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur atoms to represent a 3- to 8- membered heterocyclic ring group: R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5, each independently represents a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 lower alkyl or alkenyl group, C.sub.3 to C.sub.8 lower cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkyl or aryl group; or either two of R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 combine with each other in combination with the adjacent N and carbon atoms or further with at least one of nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur atoms to represent a 3- or 8-membered heterocyclic ring group, with the remaining being the same as defined in the above; or R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 combine with one another in combination with the adjacent N to represent a nitrogen-containing bicyclo ring or nitrogen-containing aromatic ring group: n is an integer of 1 to 8; and x.sup.- represents an anion being capable of forming a quaternary ammonium group.
The compounds are useful in treatment of ulcer in mammals.
