ABSTRACT:
A pyrene-ring-containing olefin compound of formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, or an unsubtituted or substituted aryl group; Y is an unsubstituted or substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a cyclic hydrocarbon group, or an aromatic group; and n is an integer of 1 to 3, and when n is 1, Y and R may be bonded to form a ring; an intermediate for producing the above olefin compound, which is a phosphonic acid ester of formula [II]: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and a method of producing the above olefin compound are disclosed.
