ABSTRACT:
Acetic acid containing iodide, unsaturates and carbonyl impurities is purified by treatment with ozone in the presence of an oxidation catalyst. The acetic acid product may be further contacted with activated carbon or ion-exchange resins for additional removal of impurities.
