ABSTRACT:
The invention concerns a protection device for a chopping supply of the type comprising a voltage converter whose secondary is connected to a load such as a light source of the xenon lamp type, and whose primary is connected to an energy source and is controlled by a power switch possibly controlled by a control unit, characterised in that it comprises:at least one first means for producing an image of a current flowing in the power switch from a current flowing in an energy storage capacitor connected in the primary circuit of the voltage converter, connected toat least one second means for detecting a critical current level on the image of a current, connected toat least one third means of controlling the power switch in order to modify the state of conduction of the power switch when a critical current level is detected.
