ABSTRACT:
A reader for digital information carriers (2-2, 2-2) such as compact discs includes a comprises material reading unit (3) for reading of the carrier (2) and a control unit (4). The control unit (4) includes a management unit (5) in order to memorize the "tables of contents" of the carriers (2), a reading control unit (6) adapted to cause reading by the reading unit (3) of a "current " track of the carrier, and sequential programming unit (8) enabling acquisition by the user of a sequence, and its storage in a sequential memory (10). The programming unit (8) is separated from the control unit (6), and the memory (9) of the management unit (5) as well as the sequential memory (10) are conjointly accessible to the programming unit (8) and to the control unit (6) in such a way that the programming unit (8) may in addition be rendered operative during functioning of the control unit (6) in order to enable modification of the content of the the sequential memory (10).
