ABSTRACT:
SiC whiskers are made by separating a quantity of rice hulls into two portions, carbonizing one portion in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, ashing the other portion in air, combining the carbonized residue and amorphous SiO.sub.2 obtained, and heating in a noble gas atmosphere.
