ABSTRACT:
Hydrogen is produced in a continuous cyclic electrolytic/carbon oxidation process wherein ferrous ion is oxidized at the anode and hydrogen is generated at the cathode of an electrolytic cell. The ferric ions produced at the anode are thereafter reduced to ferrous ions by contact with a solid carbonaceous material and the ferrous ions recycled for electrochemical reoxidation.
