ABSTRACT:
A bitumen is rendered pipelineable by partially hydroconverting the bitumen and then adding sufficient diluent to the partially hydroconverted bitumen to provide a mixture having an API gravity at 15.degree. C. of at least 19.degree. and a viscosity at 40.degree. C. in the range of about 35 to about 60 cP.
