The present invention relates to new compounds of general formulahaving thrombin-inhibiting activity. Exemplary are:1-Methyl-2-[4-(N-hydroxyamidino)-phenylaminomethyl]-benzimidazol-5-yl-carboxylic acid-(N-2-pyridyl-N-2-ethoxycarbonylethyl)-amide, and1-Methyl-2-[4-(N-methoxycarbonylamidino)-phenylaminomethyl]-benzimidazol-5-yl-carboxylic acid-(N-2-pyridyl-N-2-hydroxycarbonylethyl)-amide.
