A process for reducing the amount of the ethoxylated amine byproducts MEAGE, DEAGE and TEAGE formed in a process for making ethanolamines from the reaction of ethylene oxide and ammonia, comprising feeding carbon dioxide or a material which will evolve carbon dioxide to a reactor for conducting such process.
