ABSTRACT:
Process for the preparation of a compound of formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN N IS ZERO OR AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 12 AND R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen or lower alkyl, which comprises the step of treating a mixture of a diketene of formula: ##STR2## and a strongly acidic medium selected from the group consisting of concentrated sulphuric acid and oleum with a compound of formula:
