ABSTRACT:
Hydrocarbon-soluble complexes of magnesium haloalkoxides and alcohols (X.sub.n Mg(OR).sub.2-n.mR'OH pR"OH) are prepared in a non-Grignard reaction involving combination of sources of magnesium, halide, and alkoxide in the presence of an excess of the alcohol for the desired alkoxy group and an amount of lower alkyl alcohol to effect the desired solubilization of the complex.
