ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides an improvement in processes for the selective production of .alpha.-olefins from synthesis gas. The improvement embodied in the process of the present invention comprises the use of a catalyst system which comprises palladium, iron, and zinc. The zinc component of the catalyst system is preferably provided in the form of a zinc oxide support onto which the remaining catalyst components are deposited. The reaction is conducted under conventional conditions of temperature and pressure, preferably at about 220.degree. to 350.degree. C. and about 50 to 500 psig.
