ABSTRACT:
Carbonyl compound contaminants are removed from hydrocarbon streams containing olefins for use, for example, in the process for the skeletal isomerization of olefins by pretreating the hydrocarbon stream by passing it over an acidic catalyst at elevated temperatures in the range of 100-400.degree. C. under conditions to react the carbonyls to form reaction products which are deposited onto the catalyst.
