ABSTRACT:
Resins which are substantially white and resistant to yellowing are obtained by the addition of ammonium or alkali phosphates or ammonium or alkali borates during the production or processing of melamine-phenol-aldehyde resins in an aqueous basic medium, and by subsequently obtaining the resin by dehydration at a temperature of at least 70.degree. C.
