ABSTRACT:
A process for the production of sodium dichromate comprising reacting sodium chromate with acids, the acids being sulfuric acid and NaHSO.sub.4 formed as a waste product in the production of CrO.sub.3 and thus being contaminated with chromium compounds, adding PO.sub.4 ions in excess to the NaHSO.sub.4 contaminated with chromium compounds and precipitating the Cr(III) present therein as CrPO.sub.4 at a temperature of 50.degree. to 100.degree. C. and at a pH value of 3 to 6.
